PopSqueak

A current work in progress. Why? Looking around for information about pregnancy and kid-wrangling, it became very apparent that most of this info is directed at women. The nerve! Thought it might be nice to do something a little more dad-centric. Thanks to the wife for the name.

SVGA

The Saskatchewan Vegetable Growers Association, a membership site for members of the aforementioned organization. The goal of the SVGA is to promote Saskatchewan’s growers which is a pretty noble goal in my opinion.

Wilkosz + Way

Wilkosz + Way are two photographers from Calgary, Alberta. They’re incredibly good at what they do. When they needed to get some updates done to the site they’d designed, they asked me. Seeing as how I respect them both so much, I couldn’t refuse.

Sink or Swim

Website and logo design for small design group comprised of a couple of designers, a couple of photographers and a lady to write copy. This went totally down the drain and so it’s currently the monicker I do freelance stuff under. Totally not complete because, you know, life gets in the way.

PrimerCSS

PrimerCSS is an example of what happens when you make an offhand remark on Twitter and then your friend (the big brained @luckystrikes) codes it up and then you design it. Yeah, that’s what happened here. PrimerCSS takes your markup, pulls out the id’s and classes and spits them out into a starter stylesheet. Pretty neat, and a total timesaver.

Tea Bags

Tag and logo design for local bag maker. The idea is simple but fun, little price tags that resemble the tags on tea bags. Obvious? Maybe. Does it work? Yeah, I think so. I had tried to convince the client that dying the bags with tea would be a fun idea but it turns out that you’d need a lot of tea and it’s possible that particular shade of brown isn’t that appealing.

The People Of And Their Verses

Despistado, a group of young turks out of Regina, asked me to do the covers for two of their albums. One I did twice when they switched labels and the other never got released. Kind of a shame. Plus, the last one was going to be released on vinyl which was a bit of a downer for a collector like myself but they were a pleasure to work with even when they clogged my toilet while passing through Calgary.

Numbers Hate Letters

Poster for local musicians Numbers Hate Letters. Layers, colours, numbers, letters and the Golden Section. Personally placed constraints meant a whole different outlook on the use of type and experimentation with layout. Features Helvetica! Have you heard of it? You’d love it! Unless you’re Eric Spiekermann, in which case, you really dislike it. Unused.

Trees And Shade Are Our Only Fences

Another CD cover for Sylvie which is closing in on completion as this is being typed. That explains why I actually have the art for this one! Several challenges including getting a huge amount of logos on there without making it look top NASCAR and working with client supplied art. Still pretty fresh so I can’t really go on about it but I got a chance to use DIN which is one of my favorites. Nice

An Electric Trace

Local band Sylvie have been long time friends and helped me get started by letting me do my first project ever. That one isn’t so good but we are both happy with where we’ve ended up. Over the years, I’ve done press kits, packaging, promotional material and more for the band and every time they have been a joy to work with and are always open to some fun print wise.

City Of No Light

Ghosts Of Modern Man have been slugging it out in Regina for a longgggg time. I have had the pleasure of working with them on both of their cd releases and have done some promotional work for them as well. Thier CD “City Of No Light” was a good chance for me to switch to pen and ink and do something a little more organic and I was thankful for the opportunity to take a break from the computer and draw some type.
