I’m all for freedom of religion but…

This radio ad from Kieffe & Sons Ford in Mojave, CA. might well be the most ignorant thing I have ever read. You want to bash anything in your own neck of the woods and it’s not truly hateful or what have you, have at ‘er. Christians, atheists, it’s your call. To do it in an advertisement for a car dealership on the radio? That’s just messed up. The biggest problem I have with it is that even if 86% of Americans believe in God, that doesn’t make them Christians. They could very well be, um, Jewish. If that’s the case, not only do you offend the 14% of people who don’t believe in God but you also insult the 2.5% of the Jewish population or the number of the people who might fit into other categories (see here for other info. You’ll have to scroll down). It has been my experience that the best way to preach the good news and live a life in service to humanity with love for your fellow man is to be an asshole. It’s funny how quickly people forget that whole “love thy neighbor” thing and just jump right into the “see you in hell” talk that’s sure to guarantee your spot in heaven. Nice work.

Did you know that there are people in this country who want prayer out of schools, “Under God” out of the Pledge, and “In God We Trust” to be taken off our money?

But did you know that 86% of Americans say they believe in God? Since we all know that 86 out of every 100 of us are Christians, who believe in God, we at Keiffe & Sons Ford wonder why we don’t tell the other 14% to sit down and shut up. I guess I just offended 14% of the people who are listening to this message. Well, if that is the case then I say that’s tough, this is America folks, it’s called free speech. None of us at Keiffe & Sons Ford is afraid to speak out. Keiffe & Sons Ford on Sierra Highway in Mojave and Rosamond, if we don’t see you today, by the grace of God, we’ll be here tomorrow.
