A List Apart - Welcome to Rails

A List Apart No. 257 focuses on Ruby on Rails. If you follow my tweets and you see something like “Gem updates to edge, WTF?” or “Terminal, terminal, terminal” or “GIT? Really? OK”, it’s likely that I’m doing something Rails related. I like it. Actually, I really like Rails. It gets you started quick. You can rough up the basic functionality of an app in about 15 min which is, well, awesome. Anyway, the articles on A List Apart are really great starting points to get an understanding of what Ruby on Rails is all about, where to start and what you need to do to get programming Ruby (very little if you’re on a Mac, a little more if you’re on a PC). Dan Benjamin of Hivelogic and Micheal Slater of Learning Rails fame walk you through what may seem a little daunting at first but will end up being pretty satisfying if you stay interested. Really worth a look if you’ve kind of wondered what the hell all my yapping is about.
