And I design as well!

So, there has been a little controversy about a certain jackass who had been spreading rumors of an exploit in Twitterific, the excellent Twitter client from The Iconfactory who also make personal staples xScope and Frenzic. His main problem seems to be with the advertising that has appeared in version 3 though, on his own site, he feels that promoting products, services or websites via online avenues is actually of benefit to any clients who might be interested in his services:

Having a cool site is great, but if no one knows about it, it’s not doing your business much good! I can help you with strategies to promote your brand online, increasing awareness and moving you up those all-important Google rankings.

From exposing your brand to social networks like Facebook, to working with life-streaming services like Twitter, I’ll help you make the most of the exciting opportunities available in today’s web to market yourself and interact with your customers.

All of his above pitch is pretty much bullshit anyway so it’s difficult to determine if this position is one that he actually holds. I can only assume that the amount he works with Facebook or Twitter is posting a few tweets or writing a “look what I did” note on Facebook that hold as much weight in the online community as the rant you’re currently reading. I have a pretty big problem with an asshole who wants to promote the piracy of an app that costs all of $15 (free if you don’t have a problem with the small ads popping up from time to time). As disgusted as I am by his hubris, I think that the most inexcusable crime Marc Fiszman has committed is the fact that he offers up his services as a designer on his personal website. As a service to Mr. Fiszman, I am posting links to the following books and other resources to help him better understand what design is so that he can focus on that rather than being a stupid twat.
