The one where I get screwed again…

From John Gruber:
Warner Brothers to Release New Five-Movie Kubrick Boxed Set: “Digitally remastered and presented in their original theatrical release aspect ratios. Includes: 2001: A Space Odyssey, A Clockwork Orange, The Shining, Full Metal Jacket, and Eyes Wide Shut. Each comes with new commentary tracks. Hot diggity damn. Hard to tell from the marketing blurb whether these are new film-to-video transfers or just ‘remasterings’ of the existing transfers. I hope they’re new transfers; I fear they aren’t.
(Via Daring Fireball.)
This one comes from John Gruber @ Daring Fireball and it’s troublesome to me. Further to the five disk set, re-mastered special editions of Lolita and Barry Lyndon are supposed to be released around the same time. All disks except Full Metal Jacket will be released seperately as well which is the kicker. Very exciting except my question is where the F is a full-on, kick ass Paths Of Glory? Not here. Some people are complaining that there’s no special edition of Dr. Strangelove (you know, the Kubrick with the most amazing hand written titles that you see pictured here?) but that wasx released, what, 2 years ago. Get on board people. Anyway, it’s looking good for Kubrick this year and bad for this guy in terms of crap I gotta get.
