Canada Day with the little rat Rumba.
Went to see Ratatouille with the girl. Ratat-phooey? Not at all. Really a great movie. One of the best Pixar movies I’ve seen. It doesn’t beat out The Incredibles but it’s still really great. The thing about Pixar that I think the others don’t get is that the “grown up” jokes are sufficiently hidden. They don’t slap you in the face, they don’t reference pop culture like a Scary Movie gag. They’re there for you to discover or not. It’s really quite a skill. Well worth seeing. What else happened in the past week? Oh, yeah, the iPhone was released. The piece of tech I want with every part of my being that I can’t have. I guess eventually someone will crack it and I can use it with Sask-Tel but until then, silence. Anyway, it’s Canada day and right now, I’m sitting on the deck listening to the most horrendous music coming from the park while I wait to enjoy the fireworks. Not that I’ll enjoy the fireworks but there is nothing on TV and I’ve decided to spend my day off on some work so, fireworks it is. Rumba’s out here with me too and we both agree that the fireworks may be made more intersting with the additon of lightning. Canada day is driving me nuts so far. Everyone is parked on my street, it’s pretty annoying. The worst thing was seeing a drunk old dude get out of a car that was obviously being driven by his young son. What a great dad. Gets loaded and makes his son drive him to the park to go check out the scene. Anyway, the real point of this entry is that have been working on a website for the shop which I intend to put up tomorrow in the hopes that some who might happen to read this can tell me of any errors that occur if they view it. So, if you can help me out with that, that would be great. The address for that is www.sakundiak.com. Be gentle with me on the criticism. It’s been a while. The last sites I’ve done have just been Flash sites and so I’m kind of out of practice with the other everything else. I switched to using Coda and CSSEdit instead of what I used to use which was the old combo of Flash and Dreamweaver and I have to tell you, it’s been a dream. Coda is pretty much awesome and CSSEdit is super sweet so, you know, try them out if you want. Anyway, Ratatouille is a thumbs up from me and the girl, the iPhone so far a thumbs up from John Gruber, first firework is a thumbs down from me since it set off tons of car alarms. Rumba has retreated.
UPDATE: I can hardly see anything from the deck here so I’ve just decided to read the news and drink a beer. Turns out the fireworks are a pretty lame attempt at celebrating Canada’s 140th and it turns out we had our asses handed to us by Chile at the World Cup U-20.
